Appearance: Hotaru is quite typical of most Hyuuga that live in Konoha, having the fair skin and featureless white eyes her clan is famous for. The common black hair of her family contrasts her skin well, but matches the empty black uniform she keeps herself dressed it. Black silk forms a well fit tunic and pair of breeches, the loose material covering her well and assisting helping her better blend into the shadows when she chooses. The silk covers most of her body, but the clothes seem quite suited for fluid grace, and freedom of movement. Her tunic is mostly featureless, though is trimmed with soft white circles, small clusters of them marking the lower fringes of her sleeves, and hem of her pants.

She doesn’t seem to wear any armor, though she does have two rather obvious ninja pouches. One of them is strapped to her right thigh, while a larger one rests on her belt, at her back. The only truly visible armor she wears is on her feet and hands, her feet inside of a sturdy pair of boots. Her hands are wrapped in fingerless gloves, the thick leather of each bracing past her wrist and going only part the way up her forearms. Beneath the black silk, the best of Hotaru’s armor is hidden away. A common defense amongst ninja, a mesh of fine steel chains covers her body in a flexible protective suit, keeping her safer from some lesser cuts and scrapes.

Personality: Hotaru is a firce and determined child who wishes to prove her value to konoha, and rise to fame and power as quickly as she is able. Though ambitious, She is still a good person, and will not use others, destroy lives, or otherwise commit evil acts to accomplish what she desires, though she is also still young and nieve. She likes to believe most people are good, but still doesn’t trust people blindly. She has a strong sense of justice, and likes to think that one day she could become a great hero, or someone who can cause great peace and prosperity through out the nation. She has no dreams of becoming Hokage, but she does have aspirations within her own family.

Hotaru would love to become a respected elder in her clan one day, and be able to influence the clan’s decisions. If she is able to achieve such levels of influence, Hotaru would like to see the subjugation of the Branch family end, and the seal used to control them forgotten. This is something of a lofty goal, but something she would still like to see accomplished in her life time. Likewise, she can’t stand to see anyone being forced to suffer under an unjust ruler. Hotaru is a lover of freedom, and will always be doing her best to see that it is always spreading throughout the nations.

Clan Name: Hyuuga Clan Location: Konoha Clan Traits: The gentle fist - The Gentle Fist style of combat is based on palm strikes and generally aims to damage the body's Chakra Pathway System, thus creating difficulty by inhibiting an opponent's use of chakra. To do this, the user will forcefully insert a small amount of their own chakra into an opponent's chakra pathway system. The chakra can then be used to rupture or divert chakra flow, preventing them from using jutsu. Any chakra based substance can be countered/destroyed by using the gentle fist style to force chakra into it. This is done by using the chakra openings in ones hands to shape their own chakra into needles which can cut through chakra itself. It can also be used to attack the opponent's internal organs, to which the chakra pathway system is closely tied. Even the slightest tap from this style can cause major damage, hence the name "gentle fist." Because the chakra pathway system is invisible, the Byakugan is required for this style to be used effectively. Since the Byakugan is unique to the Hyūga clan, it has become their signature style of combat. *Must have Taijutsu as a specialty, preferably main. Kekkei Genkai: The Byakugan is a Dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai, a genetic trait, that is shared amongst the members of the Hyūga Clan. Those that inherit the blood of this clan have almost featureless white eyes. It has two different settings, dormant and activated, both of which take a slightly different appearance from the other form. The normal eye for a Hyuuga clan member differs from a normal human eye. The iris and pupil are barely discernable with both appearing a milky white in color. The pupil itself is larger than a typical humans and it is outlined by a black region. The sclera remains normal except the larger size of the pupil reduces ones ability to view it. Once the eye is fully activated, the hidden iris becomes more apparent. Also when providing blood and chakra for the eyes' bloodline vision, veins will bulge lateral to each eye. The first ability of the Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. The second ability is having the ability to see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight. The distance and the degree of telescopic sight varies from person to person. This is often determined by both rank and skill. At the genin level it can reach up to 100 meters. At Chunin this increases drastically reaching out to 400 meters. At jounin this goes up even more to 800 meters. A Kage level Hyuuga is capable of seeing up to 2km in all directions. However, the third and one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see chakra, as well as the chakra circulation system inside another's body. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style: Gentle Fist. (see Clan Traits above). Secret Clan Jutsu: Name: Chakra Needle Technique Type: Taijutsu Rank: C Element: - Description: After focusing chakra outside the body, the chakra is formed into needles and propelled at the user's target. By using Byakugan, this technique can be used to hit very small targets, such as bees etc. This is also how the user attacks the chakra systems of the body and can destroy substances made of chakra. Name: Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin Type: Taijutsu Rank: C Element: - Description: A Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline using the Jyuuken. Kaiten is a special technique passed down through the main family line. Kaiten takes advantage of several of the unique abilities of the Byakugan eye. Byakugan gives the clan member an almost complete 360 degree view of their surroundings. This allows the member to see all angles of attack. If an attack is near, the clan member will release a large of amount of chakra from their tenketsu. The member then begins to spin like a top, creating a whirling vortex that can nullify almost any attack. Name: Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand Type: Taijutsu Rank: C Element: - Description: A Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a special technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to see the inner chakra coils system. Using the Jyuuken style, they can force their chakra through their hands into the tenketsu of the opponent's body through 126 strikes. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32 and finally 64. This damage forcibly closes 64 tenketsu, stopping the chakra flow of the opponent. This then limits their opponents ability to use jutsu. Name: Eight Divination Signs, One-Hundred and Twenty-Eight Palms of the Hand Type: Taijutsu Rank: C Element: - Description: A Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou is a variation of Hakke Rokujuuyonshou, a technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to make nearly double the normal 126 strikes, striking 254 times against their individual foe or opponents. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and finally 128 times. Name: Guardian Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand Type: Taijutsu Rank: B Element: - Description: The user will emit chakra from their palms and move her arms in sweeping pattern movements to provide a full 360 degree range of protection for her body. This chakra will be also be able to cut through most any target which dares penetrate the protective sphere. By expelling a sharper, stronger and more flexible amount of chakra, they can increase it's effectiveness against more massive incoming objects. Name: Eight Divination Signs Air Palm Type: Taijutsu Rank: B Element: - Description: Ranged Taijutsu technique utilized by the Hyuuga. Extending chakra from his body, the user will thrust their palm at the target. This will send out an invisible wave of chakra that can knock the opponent back. Name: Eight Divination Signs Destructive Mountain Fist Type: Taijutsu Rank: B Element: - Description: Ranged Taijutsu technique utilized by the Hyuuga. Extending chakra from his body, the user will thrust their palm at the target. This will send out an invisible wave of chakra that can knock the opponent back into a nearby rock or wall to cause more damage. History: The Hyuuga are one of the oldest and most powerful clans in Konoha, being one of its two great Dojutsu clans. They aided in the founding of the leaf village, though played a much smaller role in its founding then the Senju and Uchiha did. They quickly established a high ranking amongst the ninja squadrons and became well known to all, just the mention of the Byakugan or the name Hyuuga wining an instant air of respect. Their clan is based highly on nobility and even with in itself has its own social structure. The clan is split into two different families. One being known as the main and the other being the branch. This social division has always been their greatest flaw. The Main family often holds themselves to be higher up and more important then the branch family, and basically the branch is looked down upon like lesser individuals and sometimes even pawns which can be thrown away for the villages sake. To be looked at most appropriately, the Main are the Kings, and the Branch are the peasants. It even goes so far that a destructive seal is placed on the forehead of all Branch family members which can be used to instantly destroy a branch member if they do not follow the orders of the Main family. In recent times, this wall has begun to get broken down, and the destructive seal is being used less and less. Cooperation is beginning to flourish between the two houses which is leading to prosperous outcomes. It is unknown if this will continue or if it is a momentary laps of peace. Like all of the eldest clans of Konoha, life for children among the Hyuuga clan was one of nearly constant study and training. Years before children are sent off to the academy they are schooled at home in many of the skills required to survive. Ancient lore and history of the family is taught alongside legends of the Byakugan, and the understood functionality of its amazing powers. Profound secrets the clan holds dear are taught to the most promising students, so the elders pay close attention to the younger members of the family. Members of the main branch are given special care, esspecialy when a gifted student appears amid the ranks. Such was the case when Hotaru was born to noble parents from the ruling branch of the family. She was blissfully spared the binding seal applied to the branch family, but otherwise secured into a rather sheltered life. Behind the wall of the keep she was taught her trade, while other children laughed and played. Because she showed such promise, she was only asked to work harder, to test how well she could perform. Oddly, this treatment wasn’t really uncommon in the Hyuuga line, and Hotaru took to it easy enough. Before the age of 9 Taijutsu had been much of her life, and her blossoming talent ensured she continued to receive instruction from the most gifted of teachers. Because of this, by the time young Hotaru joined the ninja academy she was already at the top of her class. She shined as one of the top students, and drew much attention to herself when she graduated. She displayed supurb talent and skill before she became a genin, and once she was awarded her headband it was not her who would be disappointing people. Instead a long string of boring missions which she felt were simply beneath her soon followed. Hotaru did as she was instructed, and with only a few complaits finished the simple missions as she was given them, and slowly worked up some credit behind her name. As she finished more and more of the simple missions, her team began to be assigned more suitable missions to the group of talents ninjas that they were. Her missions didn’t really become ‘dangerous’ for the first couple years, but when they did Hotaru found herself quite prepared. Years spent as a genin saw her training with a team of ninja, but even at home her training never ended. No other shinobi in the village could instruct her in the use of her byakugan, or the delicate maneuvers of the gentle fist style so well as her own family. Constantly practicing with talented teachers she refined her martial art to a masterful height, before she was even awarded the rank of chuunin. When it came time to defend herself against attackers, Hotaru did not hesitate to make full use of her impressive skills. As she had in training numerous times, she used her taijutsu to quickly subdue a pair of rogue genin. She did not even need to kill them, which was a delight, but the victory was nice unto itself. After using her skills once with great effect, she continued to garner more higher ranked missions, until time for rank examinations had begun. Missions had paved the way for her promotion, as they had for every other ninja who progressed past genin, but it was her person skill that let her shine in her exam. Her sharp mind let her breeze through the written exam with little trouble at all. Her entire life had been one of listening and learning; ignoring the outside world while living in a bubble of status and privilege. She learned all she could, and after displaying her impressive talent for taijutsu, she was quickly promoted to chuunin. There should could receive much more challenging missions, and do even more good for Konoha. The idea of doing good for Konoha was one that was slowly worked into her, while Family had always come first. Of course, the Hyuuga clan was a part of Konoha, but the two were separate things. It was when she began to look outside of her family when she first realized that many things were very wrong with the way her life had been progressing before that point. The shell she had been living in had always remained invisible, and it became quite clear that the Hyuuga family was something of tyrannical. After asking her grandparents about the seal and the family segregation, she was mostly explained that it was all for the greater good. They told her it was a necessary evil that the branch family underwent to better secure their family secrets. It was for the same reason that the hyuuga all maintained such impressive security measures on their family estate, and why everyone in the family was so very well trained. Grudgingly Hotaru accepted the answers she was given, but the sheer offence of the seal kept bothering her. As she continued on with her ninja life, more and more hyuuga children were continually branded with the subjugation seal. Silently Hotaru made it her goal to rise to the top of her family, and find a way to stop the segregation for good.

The angle of emission is as important as the amount emitted, as too much can send us off balance, and too little will cause a weakness in the defence. When we spin our bodies the motion is naturally enhanced by the rush of chakra coming out, propelling us faster and faster and creating the destructive sphere of chakra that surrounds us. It’s not as if it is something as uncontrolled and vulgar as just spraying chakra from all of our bodies at once. No no, it requires great aim, timing, and an ability with chakra most others simply don’t possess.” She says, then bows just a little to the four older shinobi staring down at her. The rush of passing her exams was a nice one, and soon she would be given her headband. She’d be off to doing missions, and even being paid to do so. The elders were impressed, and it was obvious enough. Behind her, three of the other genin were sitting in a small crater, medics already tending to their rather minor injuries. Five minutes previous the last round of the chuunin exams was underway. Four had qualified for the finals, and it became a free for all. Three others had decided to oust the Hyuuga first, but that choice had been a bad one. Attacking in unison was also a mistake, and Hotaru capitalized on it in full. With only one technique all three were taken down, and disabled long enough to end the fight. It had been a good match over all, and the young Hyuuga was still in fighting shape. She might have stood another round easily, but awaiting the final judgment came close to killing her. A horrible silence overcame the judging elders, before they finally told her just what she wanted to hear. She wanted to explode when they announced that she had passed the exam, and awarded her with a new rank, but she did not. Excited as she was she maintained her cool demeanor, and only smiled very brightly. Instead she bowed, and said only a few more words before leaving the arena. “Thank you very much.”
